Lionel Lennox, who was Peter’s successor, has described him as “a very nice gentleman and a man of much knowledge and experience of the Diocese and Church of England. He was a member of the Faculty Jurisdiction Commission in the 1980’s whose report resulted in the series of Care of Churches Measures of late 1980’s and 1990’s. He was the last of the provincial registrars along with David Carey (Canterbury) to sit in General Synod with the Presidents and panel of chairmen.” Peter’s funeral and celebration of life is on Monday 14 May at 3pm at the Parish Church of St Andrew, Bishopthorpe, York.
